Hessel's Hairstreak (Taylor County) July 18, 2006 (one of two seen) |
On July 25, 2007, I met Jerry and Rose Payne in Taylor County to visit the State Natural Area. We did not
see much there, so we decided to check a potential location for Hessel's. We were happy to find three.

The best place to look for them is on or in the vicinity of the Atlantic White Cedars that grow beside
the creeks in Taylor County. Juniper and Hessel's hairstreaks will often visit the same nectar sources.
