Tropical Checkered-Skippers started showing up in 2003. You don't see them in Upson County until
around the beginning of September, but they are present as early as June and July in Central Georgia. It is not
unusual to see several individuals at a given locality, but they are outnumbered by Common/White Checkered-Skippers,
at least in our area. This year (2005), they are locally abundant at locations in Southwest Georgia and
Southeast Alabama.
Flight: presently they fly in September, October, and early November in our area of the state. Recently
expanding in range and increasing in numbers.
Wingspan: 1 1/4 in.
